Submission Guidelines

Requirements and instructions for submitting a manuscript to JMP.

Scope & Eligibility

JMP publishes original, previously unpublished research in management and related fields. Manuscripts must not be under review at any other journal simultaneously. By submitting, corresponding authors confirm all co-authors have approved the submission and take responsibility for its content.

Work must fall within JMP's scope: strategic management, organisational behaviour, human resources, innovation, entrepreneurship, leadership, public administration, and management education. See Aims & Scope for full topic coverage.

Language

Manuscripts must be written in English. Both British and American spelling conventions are accepted provided usage is consistent throughout. Authors whose first language is not English are strongly encouraged to have their manuscript reviewed by a native English speaker or professional editing service before submission. JMP does not offer language editing services.

File Format

Submit manuscripts as a Microsoft Word file (.doc or .docx). PDF files are not accepted for initial submissions. Supplementary data may be uploaded as Excel (.xlsx), PDF, or other common formats. All files must be under 10 MB each.

Anonymisation for Blind Review

JMP uses double-blind peer review. Your manuscript file must be fully anonymised before submission:

  • Remove all author names, affiliations, and contact details from the manuscript text.
  • Remove self-identifying citations where possible, or blind them as "[Author, Year]".
  • Remove author metadata from the Word document (File → Properties).
  • Author details are entered separately in the OJS submission form, not in the manuscript file.

Cover Letter

Upload a cover letter (as a separate file) that includes:

  • Title and article type of the submission
  • A brief statement of the study's main contribution and why it fits JMP's scope
  • Confirmation the manuscript is original and not under review elsewhere
  • Confirmation all authors have approved the submission
  • Conflict of interest declaration (or statement that none exist)
  • Up to three suggested reviewers with institutional affiliations (optional)

Ethical Requirements

Research involving human participants must have received appropriate ethics committee approval. Authors should state this in the Methods section. For studies using secondary data or desk research, a statement confirming no ethics approval was required should be included. JMP screens all submissions with iThenticate. A similarity index above 20% (excluding references) may result in rejection without review.

Supplementary Materials

Supplementary data, appendices, survey instruments, or large datasets may be submitted as separate files. These will be made available online alongside the published article but will not be typeset. Label all supplementary files clearly (e.g., Appendix A, Supplementary Table 1).

ORCID

All authors are strongly encouraged to register an ORCID iD at orcid.org and provide it in the OJS submission form. ORCID iDs will be displayed on published articles.
